"As the voice of the European PET industry, PETCORE EUROPE'S mission is to enhance the value and sustainable growth of the complete PET value chain in Europe"
- Christian Crépet, Ambassador of PETCORE EUROPE
PET is an outstanding packaging material, and also the largest plastic material recycled in Europe. Nearly 66 billion bottles were collected and recycled in 2014, representing 57% of bottles, primarily used for mineral waters and soft drinks.
PETCORE EUROPE (formerly Petcore - PET COntainer REcycling) is the association based in Brussels representing the complete PET value chain in Europe, from PET manufacture to conversion into packaging and recycling, and other related activities.
Our association is at the forefront of working with all stakeholders to ensure the sustainable growth of PET as a packaging material of choice, and also to further increase post-consumer PET collection and recycling. We are communicating with the European institutions about the importance of the PET value chain, especially as PET is significantly contributing to the Circular Economy. Furthermore, we respond to any concern or issue which could be raised by stakeholders.
Membership
The membership of the association is formed by four leading industry sector European associations, i.e. PET Europe (the PET manufacturers), EuPC, Forum PET Europe and EuPET (the converters), PRE (the recyclers), and a large number of individual companies involved in the PET value chain. For an overview on our members, please visit our members section. Additionally, Petcore Europe works together with other downstream users such as brand owners and waste management organisations.
Structure
PETCORE EUROPE receives its strategic directions from its Board of Directors, composed of leaders from the European PET value chain. The Technical Committee manages all Petcore Europe scientific, technical and regulatory activities by means of Working Groups as well as specific Projects. The Communications and Issues Management team ensures that Petcore Europe is effectively and openly responding at all time. The management of the association is handled by the Executive Director and the Communications Officer.
