The EU Commission promotes the following hierarchy in its packaging policies: REDUCE consumption, REUSE and RECYCLE. This supports the ultimate goal of the EU to be climate neutral by 2050.

Improving the collection, sorting and recycling of PET will help to ensure that it does not end up in the environment and contribute to the microplastics issue.

 

Congratulations to Huhtamaki on tremendous job that they have done. Huhtamaki has recently announced the launch of Push Tab, a first-to-market, aluminium-free, mono-material PET blister lid for the global healthcare and pharmaceutical industries. 

 

 

Eastman has entered an exclusive negotiation with Port-Jérôme-sur-Seine as the preferred location of the molecular recycling facility it plans to build in France.

Today on World Recycling Day remember that PET is fully recyclable and made to be remade. PET - 1 material of choice for recycling. You can tell that it is PET by the 1 on the bottom. 

 

While PET is already 100% recyclable & made to be remade, on the 2nd of March 2022 the United Nations Environment Assembly in Nairobi (UNEA 5.2) agreed to develop a treaty on plastic pollution. The objective is to promote the sustainable production & consumption of plastics.
An intergovernmental negotiating committee will negotiate the details & complete its work by 2024.
