MATTHEW CLOUGH 

Dr. Matthew Clough is Principal for petrochemical projects in Europe at Argus Media, and is responsible for bespoke consulting engagements including market studies, feasibility studies and transaction support engagements across all petrochemical value chains. He has a wide range of experience spanning commodity chemicals, through to engineering plastics and bio-based/specialty markets. His keen interest in sustainable chemistry began during his doctoral years, when he was sponsored by BASF to investigate cellulose dissolution and regeneration in recyclable ionic liquid systems. Prior to joining Argus, Matthew spent five years in chemical consulting at S&P Global (formerly, IHS Markit) where he participated in approximately 40 single-client projects and co-authored two major multi-client reports on the linear alpha olefin industry. Earlier, he undertook two and a half years of work at Syngenta, where he was responsible for the structural elucidation of oligomer/polymer co-formulants using chromatography and spectroscopy.
