Following an ODR Workshop on Opaque and Difficult to Recycle PET Packaging in Brussels, PETCORE EUROPE has launched a call for industry representatives to join its ODR Working Group. As PET is now expanding beyond transparent bottles and thermoforms into new applications such as milk and home care containers, Petcore Europe is keen to facilitate a dialogue across the value chain to find sustainable solutions for their recycling ability and end markets for such recycled PET.

The Working Group therefore is organised according to the following six task forces:

On 1 February 2017, 160 delegates from the entire PET value chain from Europe and beyond convened in Brussels for the annual PETCORE EUROPE Conference 2017.

Under the theme “PET 2020 – The future of the PET industry”, the complete industry - from PET resin producers, masterbatch producers, packaging designers and manufacturers, equipment manufacturers, label producers to major brand owners, EPR schemes, waste management organisations, recyclers, waste sorting and recycling machinery manufacturers - presented and shared their visions on the future of PET and the PET industry.

The workshop will take place on 4 April 2017 in Brussels (Bluepoint Conference Center) and is open to the entire industry to participate. The three European organisations PETCORE EUROPE, UNESDA - Soft Drinks Europe and EFBW - European Federation of Bottled Water have signed a non-disclosure agreement to work together as an integrated bottle value chain from virgin PET to preforms, bottles and r-PET.

On 31 January 2017, PETCORE EUROPE held its Annual General Meeting in Brussels during which the members elected a new Board.

The event will take place on 15 March 2017, 10.00 - 12.30, at the PETCORE EUROPE offices in Brussels (Avenue de Cortenbergh 71, 1000 Brussels), followed by a networking lunch.

PETCORE EUROPE has established its PET Thermoforms Working Group in June 2015, following a Workshop on Recycling PET Thermoforms in March 2015. It comprises 40 companies and organisations including key players from industry and waste management. The goal is to increase the market share of PET in thermoforms in Europe by providing sustainable and reliable end-of-life solutions for their effective recycling.

The organisers of the PRS Europe event, Crain Communications Ltd and the Plastics Recyclers Europe Association, are pleased to announce the return of PRS Europe. The show will take place at the RAI in Amsterdam on the 29 - 30 March 2017.

The Plastics Recycling Show (PRS) will feature a pan European exhibition and conference stream designed specifically for the plastics recycling industry. The event will bring together key players from the plastics and recycling sectors in order to learn, network and capitalise on the business opportunities plastic recycling offers.
